Francis Asis, the Filipino singer who melted the hearts of the people in Finland
2018 Voice of Finland finalist Francis Asis melted everyone's hearts with his dramatic and romantic performances . He travelled to Finland all the way from Philippines to compete and leap to the unknown.
Who has inspired you to sing?
My filipino idols are Gary Valenciano and Lani Misalucha. International artists who have influenced me are Journey, John Farham, Whitney Houston, Bruno Mars, and Josh Groban. In Finland, I also got to know exciting artists like Lauri Tähkä, Juha Tapio, Laura Närhi, and Jari Sillanpää.
Why Finland?
I've lived here for almost 3 years now because I currently study practical nursing. I've always loved the country and would like to stay here for good. I followed my dreams and I hope that in doing so, people can see that nothing is impossible as long as you put your heart into it. It's an amazing experience when children look up to me as a role model because I feel like I am motivating them somehow to also follow their dreams and to never give up.
Someday, I hope to publish my own songs and hopefully, be able to bring my family here so I can be with them.
How was the Voice of Finland?
Voice of Finland was a great opportunity to give inspiration and pride to the Filipino community in Finland.
Describe your new album?
I sing for inspiration, courage, love, forgiveness, kindness, and humility. The title of my new album is All that faraway.
