Exotic Vietnamese Food Bar in Koivukylä

Vietnamese Restaurant Hoa Sen by Foreigners in Finland

I was pleasantly surprised to discover a small Vietnamese restaurant in Vantaa. It's a cozy food bar that can accommodate up to six people, but the food offerings are amazing and will leave your taste buds tingling with every bite.

This is a family restaurant owned by a Vietnamese couple. According to one of the owners, Van Ut Tran, they opened the restaurant a couple of years ago but have struggled to attract many customers due to difficulty finding the place. They are open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Sundays from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The couple does not speak English. However, they speak a little Finnish, which may be difficult to comprehend, but at least they try their best to speak the local language. Fortunately, you can browse a menu with pictures and choose from various dishes.

The two running the restaurant were very welcoming and clearly put a lot of care into preparing the food. They offer a variety of unique dishes that are not available elsewhere, making this Vietnamese restaurant one of the best I have visited.

When I visited the restaurant, I was mainly interested in trying pho, the famous Vietnamese soup many Finns have come to love. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover many other authentic dishes on the menu that I had never seen or tasted. It brought back fond memories of sitting with Vietnamese families in their living rooms to share a meal.

In the Philippines, this food is called siopao. It's a steamed bun filled with meat. I recently discovered that they put noodles inside similar buns, which is called bao in Vietnamese.

The ambiance of a home can be more important than its decorations. Despite not being Vietnamese, the food bars give me a sense of comfort and familiarity..
